Friuli Venezia Giulia is an Italian region with a special statute.

It is extended on an area of 7558 Kmq and has a peculiar geographic position, borders on Austria to the north and on Slovenia to the east, so it has a heritage of tradition and cultural and linguistic mix.
Ancient populations already appreciate the luxuriant landscapes of these lands: a lot of these sites are enriched with roman vestiges, imposing and longobard. Friuli Venezia Giulia has been chosen during the centuries for its strategic position: today in the heart of Europe, where eastern and western winds meet.
The roads arrive right in cities full of art: Trieste, Gorizia, Udine and Pordenone have not only tokens of ancient history, but also more recent signs of the Venetian and Hapsburg domination.
Its suggestive historic villages, where the popular traditions are alive and strong and bring people in a world of sounds and scents: that of skilful craftsmen working and that of a kitchen of which the San Daniele ham and the wine of the Friuli’s Vineyard are the most famous ambassador. Embellished with charming paths, this region offers enchanting landscapes, from sea to hills and mountains. The silences are suggestive and make magic the unblemished spaces in the heart of the nature.Two are the main natural park: that of the Dolomites Friuliane and that of the Prealps Giulie.
These are ideal sites for walking, visits and naturalistic trips of great interest, where it is possible to meet deers and roe deers or find yourself on the trail of bears and lynx, while, glancing up, among the clouds it is possible to see majestic raptors. At the exact opposite, along the coast of Trieste, it is possible to penetrate the marine universe with guided scuba divings or to enjoy breathtaking scenery among the mediterranean vegetation perched over the sea. It is not lacking of interesting lacustrine, lagoon and hill areas, along these it is possible to take quite rides on horse or on bike, during which you can admire original variety of spontaneous orchids.

Trieste is the administrative center of the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and also the most populated.
It is an important maritime junction because of its harbor that today represents one of the most relevant connection for the flow of international exchanges between the markets of Europe and Asia.
The Gulf of Trieste offers a rich variety of environments and attractions: white fleets that sail in the blue with Bora wind at their backs, cliffs and sheltered castles that offer panoramic glimpse perched over the Adriatic sea, little hidden beaches frequented for years only by fishermen, verandas overlooking the sea where it is possible to taste fresh-fished delicacies and suggestive submerged worlds.
Right in the city centre are located the Canal Grande and the piers of Santa Teresa and of San Carlo, from which you can enjoy a splendid view on the square Unità and on the nearby palaces overlooking the sea.
Trieste boasts a strong and vital yacht club, it is one of the main centres of aggregation of the italian marine movement.
The coastal profile of the city is dominated by the Vittoria Lighthouse, an imposing building in white stone, built with a twofold function of lighthouse and of monument to the dead mariners during the First World War.
The oldest lighthouse of Trieste is the Lanterna that guards the pier Fratelli Bandiera and lays its foundation on the rock the Zucco.
Aside from the numerous workshops and shipyards, the city presents the pontoon-crane Ursus, a titan of more than 1500 tons utilized to raise heavy components necessary for building transatlantic.
White pearl that stand out on the coast of Trieste, the Diramare Castle is a symbolic site of the city. Perfect synthesis between nature and art, the luxuriant residence, several times visited by the Princess Sissi, today it is a museum that maintain gothic, medieval and renaissance elements. The coast of Trieste keeps a lot of surprise. There are traditionally present on the territory a series of associative and corporate reality that organize and promote from the sailing to the rowing, from the windsurfing to the swimming, from the waterskiing to the game fishing.The city keeps other surprise even in the subsoil. Going down 100 meters below the earth’s surface it is possible to admire the imposing stalagmites and stalactite of the Grotto Gigante.

Udine

The city is situated in the centre of the region Friuli Venezia Giulia and it is dominated by the imposing Castle born on a fortified site, characterized by ancient neolithic and roman remains. It is extended on a long surface that succeeds to surprise not only the mountain lovers but also the sea lovers. In the territory of Tarvasio are presents some of the most famous ski centers, like the ski slope of Prampero on the mountain Santo di Lussari.
Ligano Sabbaidoro boasts a complex of nautical infrastructures that is one of the more developed of Europe, with a coast extended for 8 km.
Aquileia is one of the most important archeological sites of the northern Italy, nominated by the Unesco world heritage site, with its Basilica and the Sepolcreto Romano, represents a site of historic memory and demonstration of an illustrious past. The fortress of Palmanova is a jewel of military art and an unique model of city of its kind, has a nine-pointed star shape with symmetric plan, it is considered a national monument.
Cividale del Friuli, with artistic jewels that are part of the world heritage of the Unesco, together with Tarcento are the most important sites of the Eastern Hills of Friuli, well-known all over the world for the precious Bacco’s nectar. Faedis, Attimis and Nimis are villages surrounded by the ruins of medieval castles.
The Valleys of Natisone, rich of woods of chestnuts and hazels, offer a variety of colors and scents in every season.
The Valleys of Torre are an unblemished corner of mountain, near the art cities of Friuli Venezia Giulia, they are a destination for everyone who loves to immersing in the wild nature, full of waters that during their paths creates spectacular torrents and splendid waterfall among which the one of the rio Boncic in the plane of Campo di Bonis. From the ridge of Gran Monte you have a breathtaking view from the Carniche and Giulie Alps to the Adriatic Sea. Forni di Sopra is in the hearth of the Friuli’s Dolomites. Here you live in an environment declared world heritage site by the Unesco. Displays a landscape of rare beauty and excellent alpine or cross country ski slope.

Gorizia

The city is situated at the eastern borders of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Ideal site for the athletes, paradise for the lovers of the good wine and of the good eating, but also for who just wants to spend a holiday immerse in the green, away from the chaos, where everything has the right dimension. The richness of these territories is contained in few kilometers. We first found the sweet elevations of Collio, a harmonic area dominated by the Giulie Alps.
Follows the suggestive atmosphere of the lagoon, molded in the last millenniums as a consequence of the slow, but constant, rising of sea level and of the substantial fluvial deposit that originates countless small islands.
The lagoon contains also the precious treasure of Grado, which preserves in its historic centre monuments of exceptional interest.
To admire is inside the Basilica one of the most extraordinary mosaic paving complex existing in the world. Not so far, the rough nature of Carso, marked by the signs of the struggles that here took place before the First World War. Finally, the plain is dotted with neat small cities and small rural centers, which today still narrate the hard and tiring relation between the populations and their land, cultivated and reclaimed in an attentive relation of balance between the human intervention and environment. Cut through by the water of the Isonzo, a river that represents the most authentic bond between the different ethnic groups that for centuries have lived together in Gorizia. The municipality of Grado is an important tourist and thermal centre that offers several kilometers of beaches.

Pordenone

Pordenone is situated in the western part of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The History of Pordenone today is still linked to Noncello, the silent stream that for centuries has been navigable determining the economic development of the city and contributing to create a peculiar inclination to innovation, exchange and confrontation. Dynamism and creativity displayed for example in architecture, in the artistic, musical and literary production, and also in all those events of international breath like the “Days of Dumb Cinema”, that make Pordenone a cultural reality rich and original in the italian view.
Walking through the historic centre of Pordenone means to immerse in an atmosphere of other times, where the elegance of the palaces and of the porches goes with the poetry of the frescos that seems to narrate the history of the city. Its artistic-cultural heritage finds expression in the several Church like the Duomo-Cathedral of San Marco and in the civic museum and in the municipal theatre.
Corsara Della Delizia, San Vito al Tagliamento, Cordovado, Brugnera and Polcenigo, are some of the most characteristic villages of the province that present themselves like graceful and elegant small cities that allow making a jump in the past. Piancavallo is the most important tourist site of Pordenone, located at the foot of Cavallo Mountain, in the municipality of Aviano.
Here take place important skiing competitions at international level.
