Ischia island

At the western end of the Gulf of Naples, in front of the Phlegraean Fields is located one the largest islands of volcanic origin. Renowned both in Italy and around the world for its naturally occurring thermal springs and temperate climate Ischia has become a popular marine destination in the tourism industry.
The island is 46.33 km squared, and composed of six municipalities Ischia, Casamicciola Terme, Lacco Ameno, Forio, Serrara Fontana, Barano each represented by its own mayor and city council. It rises from the seabed for 1,300 meters of which only 788 are above the surface.
It’s fondly referred to as the "Green Island" bursting with the rich "Mediterranean" vegetation which characterizes it, or as the "Island of Health", for the wealth of its thermal springs found within its subsoil.
Tourists from around the world have been attracted to Ischia’s charms making it one of the most popular destinations in the world. They have discovered it as a place that embraces nature, culture, tradition, modernity, history. The coasts are very irregular and jagged with picturesque vistas, enchantingly romantic coves, and stupendous bays, some of which are only accessible by boat.
Visiting the entire island in one day may be difficult but it’s not impossible, thanks to Tour Ischia with Cilindro Viaggi. You can spend an entire day (or just over half a day) by bus, touring around the island of Ischia, with an impressive route that touches the six municipalities of the island and its most evocative sites.

How to Reach Ischia

Ischia is located at a strategic point in the Mediterranean sea. It is connected with the ports of Naples - Beverello and Porta di Massa - Pozzuoli, Sorrento, Capri and Salerno. The sea routes are active, year round, to and from Naples and Pozzuoli.
There are two types of services to and from Naples: hydrofoils and ferries.
The hydrofoils are for passengers only; they are faster and it normally takes only 45 minutes to reach Ischia from the mainland. Some hydrofoils make an intermediary stop at the island of Procida and therefore take an 10-15 minutes longer than the direct route.
Ferries are for passengers and for vehicles. They can be direct routes or may include a stopover in Procida and will take between 1 hour and 40 minutes to approximately 2 hours. From Pozzuoli, ferries only take about 1 hour, significantly less time than those from Naples.
Naval Ticket Information
Arriving by car: We suggest choosing a suitable route at www.viamichelin.it
Arriving by Plane: The nearest airport is Naples Capodichino, connected to the port of Naples (Beverello and Porta di Massa) with public transport and taxis. It takes about 20 minutes by car.
It’s possible to book a private transfer that also includes the sea route and transfer to Ischia. Obviously this choice of transfer is the most convenient because CIlindro Viaggi looks after the ferry ticket reservation in advance and therefore during the high season you are assured a spot on the first ferry or hydrofoil available.
